Most people want to be successful but few understand the link between the mission and the vision. Most people are on a mission, doing one thing or the other as they try to succeed. So they work very hard, save money when they can, join several groups and contribute daily. They advertise themselves and do their best, however they never become billionaires.
Now think of Vision as the destination, the where and the what that needs to be done. On the other hand think of mission as the how part that answers the existence of the visions.
Missions with no Visions
It’s good to have a mission however a mission in the absence of a vision is just a person going round in circles, it never ends. Most people have great missions, they sell whatever they can find but few have a vision. A vision keeps you focused and directional. You keep your eyes on the target and everything you is towards the target. You filter what you do according to does it lead you to your vision.
People with missions and no vision are very good at doing but not reaching the goal. They can sell anything, go anywhere, be anyone and do it anyhow. This is where the problem is, they just never reach a vision that is set in stone because of their various missions they cannot concentrate on one thing.
So the next time you want to be a billionaire ask yourself, “Is what you are doing taking you there”
A vision is like a maths equation
Imagine that your life is a maths equations as the one below
10+4=14
Your goal is to get to 14, but however to get to 14 there are different variables that can be put into the equation for examples
- 5+8=14
- 13+1=14
- 7+7=14
- 12+2=14
- 20-6=14
- 7*2=14
There are literally many different combinations that can be used however the outcome must be the same output being 14. The value 14 becomes your vision and the variables and operator become your mission. If you decide that you are going to work with 7*2 then you have to be disciplined. Imagine that so far you are now at 7 * and now need to work on the second variable so that you equation becomes 7 * 2 but half way you decide that you now want to change the operator such that the you now need a + (plus) instead of a * (multiplier). What this means is that you have to change everything else, but few people do that. What most people will do is that they will change the operator and still input the same variables such that their new equation is now 7+2=9. So instead of sticking to the vision to understand what variable needs to be input most people keep changing their operators and in some circumstances they keep changing their inputs. As a result they never really reach the out put that they need to achieve
Discipline and Planning
If you are to be successful and achieve your goals then there is need to ensure that you work towards your dreams and what needs to be achieved. This requires writing your equation down, working on the variables and the input and pushing towards the goal. If when you need to change the inputs or operators then one has to re-look at the equation and decide what needs to be changed. Life is about implementation and whatever it is that we implement that is what we get, so make sure you are implementing the right thing.
