Shortcuts are very tempting as they promise to give you immediate gratification and you save on time, money and resources, so it will seem. So when offered a choice between the long way and a short cut people will take the short cut. Though shortcuts can be useful from time to time they are certain steps that they will not fulfill. These steps are fundamental to the development of whatever success that you need to achieve in life. Shortcuts have their place and must not be used in everything.
1. Vision
When one has a dream you start off with a vision, for you to understand the vision you must first stand at a distance to fully appreciate the vision. Shortcuts do not offer enough time to understand the vision. People believe the vision is the destination, however vision is a journey. The destination is the culmination of a route taken. In the absence of the route there can be no destiny.
Think of vision as a fruit on top of a tree. Without the growth of the tree the vision can never come to being. To have the fruit the growth of the tree, which is the journey, must occur. A race has a finish line but that finish line is only qualified by the distance that one has taken.
2. Passion
Shortcuts don’t give you time to fully develop and entrench your passion into the dream that you have. The strength of any passion is proved by the journey that one takes to find success. It might seem daunting at first when one is going through so many trials and tests but passion demands that the full journey, where possible, is taken. If you have a dream it pays more to take part in the race to build your passion for the prize. Most people do not appreciate their own dreams if they are handed to them on a silver platter. The Champions League would not matter if one was just declared a winner without first going through the different hurdles. The things that matter require the use of passion to get to the prize. Shortcuts deprive the development or recognition of passion and its effort.
3. Stamina
The more you climb the ladder of success the greater the muscles you build so that when you get to the top you will be fit to handle the challenges at the top. Climbing the ladder of success requires energy and effort, but only a few can sustain the climb to be called champion. Imagine a marathon that has hundreds of people racing; the real prize is not coming first, the real prize is being able to finish the marathon. Stamina cannot be built in the presence of giving up on your dreams.
4. Confidence
As you move towards your dream the more you will realize confidence, not only on your capabilities but also on your ability to achieve. The vision will become clearer and your passion will be more defined. Confidence takes time and your ability to stay on top of the mountain is a factor of the time you had to develop your strategy in life. Confidence is solidified with experience, you might have confidence at the beginning of anything but over time your confidence will solidify.
5. Qualify
Taking the journey to build success will qualify you as able. No one gets an education degree by simply being declared qualified, you need to do the time. Shortcuts do not qualify you as able, over time you will be tested to see if your skills are really genuine. Those who take shortcuts sometimes fall when they are truly tested. It is one thing to be a CEO of a company, but it is another thing altogether to deserve and prove you deserve the position
