Success is a way of thinking for which once it becomes a habit then consistence becomes a constant of success. We think according to how we have been socialized in most of the times, hence we refer to what we were taught or shown or what we saw for ourselves. From this we then move along in life without ever really falling into a successful routine.
1. Success is off the normal
The road to success is usually not the same road that everyone travels, which is why there is talk of a one percent or ten percent affluent in society. In order to find success your need to reprogram your mind so that you are not doing the usual but doing something different. Remember what Einsten said “You cannot expect a different result if you are doing the same old thing”
2. Success creates new levels
When we are all doing the same things at the same level we tend to have the same result which is a common approach. If we want to change levels and be different we have to think of new standards beyond the standard that we are used to. People like Phelps or Bolt cannot be champions if they operate at the same level because there will always be a challenger to their level of standard.
3. Success is a pioneer
Even if you are copying what others came up with before, the fact that you are doing it then, and are the only one doing it in your environment, that makes you a pioneer. Socialization teaches us that we cannot be different and tryout new things. Hence we are stuck doing the same old things such that we are afraid to start anything new. We have to reprogram ourselves away from such thinking and start to believe we can be pioneers.
4. Success dares to fail
Perhaps the number one reason for not attaining success is the fear of failing such that we never risk anything. No risk no rewards is not just a statement, it simply reminds us that the truly valuable things in life are worth a risk. At anytime that one pursues success there is always the risk the one will fail. In the end if you do not dare to succeed against the prospect of failure you may never be reprogrammed.
5. Success if for the crazy ones
Steve Jobs was famous for believing that success is for those who do not mind to be labeled crazy. Normal is routine and acceptable but the pursuit of success is rebellious and completely new. To quote Steve Jobs
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
