A good friend gives you great advice and one of the best advice you can get on your way to success is that, “There is nothing wrong in having things, the problems starts when the things have you”. We can get caught up in our success such that we lose track of who owns who when it comes to the things that we have achieved.
Success is not about Assets it is a principle
In the book “The Five Principles of Programmed Success” we go at length to explain that success has different meanings to different people. For some people a car may mean any one of the following things; speed, sex symbol, status, transport and much more. It is in this aspect that the car itself is not the success but the meaning that the car stands for is the success which is the principle. When you end up believing that the car makes you or that the asset is who you are you are, you end up selling your soul in terms of what you can achieve. If you were to lose your assets or possessions, would that make you lesser of a person? The value of a person is not in the things they own but simply in just being a person. Similarly the value of success is not in the assets but in the principle that the assets represent.
The value of Money us determined by our agreed perception
Money is just paper that has been printed a value , its real value is the perception of what we think of the numerals printed on it. So one can hold a 100 dollar note, in reality these are just paper which can burn easily, but it is the perception of value that has been associated with the notes that make it valuable. It’s not the money that creates value, it is the people that create the value. When you are successful and own things, never think that the things are the ones making you valuable, it is you that makes them valuable. To be owned by things is to believe that your success is measured in what you own. Mother Teresa was very successful in her life, but she was not a billionaire, and so were a lot of people like Florence Nightingale, Jesus, Isaac Newton, Nelson Mandela and more who did not need to amass billions to be considered very successful, your life objectives do not need to be defined by things.
Master the things that you own
Let what you own answer to you and serve you and not the other way round. If you become a slave to money you might never enjoy life to the fullest. There is so much more to life, but you have to make life work for you. The most successful people are the ones that have found the balance of life. They understand what it means to have and not be owned by the number of things that exist. Your car is there to serve you, take care of it not worship it, your house similarly is there to provide you shelter, don’t let it become your shelter of success.
Such is life,”There is nothing wrong in having things, the problems starts when the things have you”.
