There is that old adage that says “Selling your birth right for a bowl of soup“, which denotes a person who has a vision but will sell that vision for instant gratification. Most people have visions but sometimes the visions are compromised for the sake of a getting an alternative achievement immediately. In the short run it seems like a winning decision but in the long run you are never quiet satisfied.
Your vision must be more than making money in business other wise 5 things will happen which will derail you from success and cut short your business.
1. Sinking when you were swimming
It is easy to expand into new territory but if you are too eager to make money you might just find your once successful business sinking in debt and inefficiencies. Everyone wants to be successful, but not every route is your comfort for success. You start sinking when you start doing things which are not within your scope of expertise, in other words, when you get greedy. There is a limitation to what you can do in life, and sometimes your business is structured for a specific trade. If you own a coffee house and you start diverting funds to a building company which is being managed by the same management team managing the coffee house , then in a few years both business will sink.
2. Giving up a dream for instant gratification
When you have a dream, it is your prerogative to run with it and become successful. Along the way you will be offered soup to give you an instant gratification in exchange for your vision. If you give up your vision you will never really be happy, you will always wonder, what if you had done things differently. Legend tells of how people give up on their start up companies for corporate positions, only to see someone else run with their idea and become twice as big as the corporate they could have joined. Vision is more than seeing the challenges, it is about dreaming beyond the obstacles.
3. Money is a secondary mission
If you make money your primary mission your vision will wilt and sooner than later it will die. The more that money becomes your primary vision the more your original vision becomes hazy and difficult to see through. This is when your vision becomes nothing to you and your value for it becomes null. Most people will only treat your vision in the same way that you treat it. If people see that you are willing to compromise your vision for any dollar that comes they will soon not take you seriously and will pressure you to sell your vision.
4. Employees, partners and followers respect
If you are not big on your vision no one else will be big on it. When people are following or working in a company they need to follow something that they believe in. The vision of a company is the guidance on what the company is trying to achieve, if this is not laid out and communicated regularly people will quickly lose focus. People know they need to make money it is a given, but they need to know what it is that their company is achieving. There is a sense of pride in knowing that your company is responsible for keeping the communication of a society as opposed to the company is making money.
5. Money is paper, vision creates the paper
Whenever you see everything around you, it is the result of the dreams and visions of people. The imagination of the world creates the infrastructure and systems of the world.Paper is paper, it is here today and gone tomorrow, visions are legacies, they live for generations. Always understand what comes first, the vision then the paper will follow the paper. If you believe in the paper more, then that paper goes its gone, but if the paper goes but the vision is still there more paper can be found. Don’t sabotage the future by making paper more important than the vision. The horizon is clear to the persons with a clear vision, and when strong enough the vision is beyond the imagination of today.
